On the 6th February 2020, Dudley Zoo received a very special animal. Since the unfortunate death of male Snow Leopard, Margaash, the Studbooks have been eager to find a match for current female Taïga. The 4 year old male travelled from Jardin des Plantes in Paris, France to Dudley Zoo and has been since bonding with Taïga through bars before they are put together. He is settling in well and is becoming a firm favourite for regular photographers at the zoo. The male Snow Leopard is named Makalu which is a mountain in the Himalayas where Snow Leopards are native. He can be recognised easily by the ‘M’ markings above his eyebrows. I can’t wait to learn all about this gorgeous boy and see him interact with Taïga.
